Jinson Abraham is a self-taught artist and photographer based between Kochi and Bengaluru. He moved into photography from an engineering and start-up background and began working seriously with the medium around 2013. In 2017 he founded JNBY Media House.
His work spans portraiture, editorial photography, cultural documentation, travel, architecture and visual direction. He was previously Chief Photographer at FWD Life Magazine, has documented several editions of Kerala Blog Express, worked extensively with Kerala Tourism on films and campaigns, and has produced hundreds of long-form travel stories across the nation.
He has photographed some of the most recognised figures in Indian art and cinema, including Padma Bhushan Shri Mohanlal, artist Bose Krishnamachari, National Award winners Aparna Balamurali, Manju Warrier and Gopi Sunder, and Kerala State Award winner Rima Kallingal.
His photography has also driven social awareness campaigns, most notably the 2018 breastfeeding awareness cover for Grihalakshmi, which sparked a national conversation on breastfeeding in public and drew international coverage from the BBC, NPR and Newsweek.
Kollavarsham is his continuing project built around the Malayalam calendar: an evolving archive of Kerala's time, people, material culture and social transformations.
